Roma Film maker Tony Gatlif reveals the names of the Winners of Dosta! video competition
[inline: 2=Tony Gatlif] Dosta! video competition is the first regional activity which took place within the Council of Europe/European Commission campaign for fighting against prejudices towards Roma.
We invited video amateurs, art academy/school, associations, to produce a short video (maximum 20 minutes) promoting the basic campaign messages:
[inline: 1=star image] Roma have rights and aspirations like everybody else. They are citizens of the countries they live in and they have to be recognized as such, in the full respect of their citizenship and human rights.
[inline: 1=star image] Roma culture is part of Europe’s cultural heritage and it has contributed to the enrichment of European societies. It is now time to recognize this contribution.
We received 24 short videos and 14 of them were preselected by the Council of Europe Roma and Travellers Division according to the criterion of participation.
The international Jury, represented by Mr. Tony Gatlif, revealed the name of the winners during a prize giving ceremony which took place in Strasbourg, on 7 November 2006, at cinéma Odyssée, within the framework of the Fortnight of Roma cinema.
First prize: 2000 Euros
Second prize: 1000 Euros
Third prize: 500 Euros
