On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Holocaust of the Roma during the Second World War, the European Roma and Travellers Forum (ERTF) calls on everyone to observe a moment of silence on 2 august 2015, at noon, in memory of the Roma victims. Remembering the Holocaust of the Roma is the key to fighting modern day racism and intolerance. It means a commitment to value the human being, its dignity and rights. The idea for a Caravan Memorial to commemorate the Romani Holocaust began in 1996. Adam Bartosz, a curator of the Regional Museum in Tarnów and Adam Adrasz, President of the Roma Association in Tarnów, began the Caravan Memorial tradition together. This year's caravan will take place from 23-26 July.Borrowing horses from local stables and using old wagons from the museum's collection, the Romani residents of Tarnów commemorated the extermination of the Roma from Szczurowa by holding a memorial caravan procession.
