BUCHAREST - The Press Monitoring Agency, or AMP, and the Romanian Center for Investigative Journalism, or CRJI, launched Monday, October 30th, the magazine "Minoritati si Discriminare in Agenda Presei", (Minorities and Discrimination in the Printed Press Agenda). 

The magazine includes four articles written by investigation journalists under CRJI coordination, a survey made by AMP on the minorities issue mirrored by the press in Romania, and legislation and deontology on discrimination and press-minorities relationship.

The ethnic Romas are most often portrayed in Romanian newspapers, in a negative light, said AMP survey. Journalists in Dolj (southern Romania) are the fiercest enemies of ethnic Roma, said Stefan Candea, coordinator within CRJI. Some 20 articles of the 76 apparitions in central media and 140 articles of the 395 apparitions in local media were negative.

The photo gallery "Minoritati si Grupuri Discriminate" (Minorities and Discriminated Groups) was inaugurated on this occasion. The gallery includes seven photo-feature reports on various topics regarding the discrimination and social exclusion.
